I’m Sherri with HomeShow Gardens Pros and I’m here today with Mike Fodge with Azomite, and we are going to talk about winter recovery and why we need to use Azomite in our winter recovery and the benefits that we’re going to see this year.

Mike Fodge:

Sounds good. So one of the things that about Azomite, you’re going to see plant growth. You’re going to see a larger lusher plant after using it. What you won’t see is the root growth. And root growth is so essential in helping plants deal with stress. They’re going to be able to pull up more of the nutrients, whether it’s the fertilization or the minerals provided by Azomite and that plant is on its way to recovery over whatever stress it may have just happened.

Sherri Harrah:

Right. So it just boosts that immune response and helps to let it flush past the winter growth. So this is a native plant that’s gone through winter and after the fertilizer that I put down and the Azomite kicks in, it’s going to flush and be more resilient this year.

Mike Fodge:

Absolutely.

Sherri Harrah:

Another thing we want to do, I did put a fertilizer down, so just a reminder, Azomite is like the vitamin, the nutrient, micronutrient boost, we still need to eat so we still need to feed our plants plant food. And after we get all this put out, then a good thing to follow up would be a mulch.

Mike Fodge:

Absolutely. A good quality mulch.

Sherri Harrah:

Okay. The good quality mulch is going to basically keep in place everything that we just put down, it’s going to insulate the root system, hold onto moisture, which that’s another thing we want to talk about too, is the Azomite softens the soil and helps water penetrate the soil.

Mike Fodge:

Well it does, and it also, with that root growth that I talked about, that’s expanding the soil as well. So those nutrients like your fertilization, and when this mulch breaks down, that plant has that available to them much more easier because it’s got more working for you down below the surface of the ground.

Sherri Harrah:

So it helps us get through summer.

Mike Fodge:

Absolutely. It’ll be there.

Sherri Harrah:

Awesome. Well, for more great tips like this, join us on HomeShow Gardens Pros.
