Seed Cylinders for Bird-Feeding

Have you ever thought about feeding seed cylinders? Have you never fed seed cylinders? Well, now’s actually a great time to give them a try. What exactly is a seed cylinder? Well, a seed cylinder is a solid block of seed that’s held together with a gelatin. The real advantage of seed cylinders, one of the big ones, is that you don’t have to go out and fill the feeder every day. Right now this time of year, the birds could be draining your feeder pretty quick. A seed cylinder will last a week or more. We also carry a wide variety of different blends, like our cranberry blend, our current nesting seasoned super blend, a no mess blend, which is a very tidy mess-free way to feed the birds.

Now you think, “Oh boy, I have squirrels.” Well, then we have our hot pepper seed cylinders. So same thing, blocks of hot pepper seed in a cylinder form held together by a gelatin. So the birds will love it, but the squirrels will hate it. Now you might be asking, “How do I feed a seed cylinder?” Got an example of a really good seed cylinder feeder right here. As you can see, it’s got a post right here in the middle and all the seed cylinders have a hole right down the middle. So you simply lift the lid on the feeder, unwrap the cylinder and slide it right down over that post. Once that’s on there, you just close the lid, hang it back up and you’re good to go.

So seed cylinders are a great convenient way to feed the birds. You will get longer viewing times of birds on cylinders because they have to peck and chip away at the cylinder to get that perfect piece of seed that they want to go off and eat. So we strongly encourage you to incorporate seed cylinders in your backyard and that will help you bring even more joy to your backyard bird feeding.
