Mary Gonzales:

Hey everybody. It’s Mary with Nelson Nursery and Water Gardens and these are my top three summer annual plants for pots and for in the garden. We start off with angelonias, which have these beautiful, tall spiky blooms followed by lantanas and lastly, vincas that are cascading or they can stand up straight. These all, though they can handle the heat, still need to be watered regularly. If you’re going to be doing these in pots, the deeper the pot, the more the soil you have, the less you will have to water them. But daily watering is always best when we are talking about potted plants. And a really cool, fun trick is to take the pot off of your plant, put the pot into your planter here, and fill it with soil and then you can pop in the plants. And those are my top three favorite plants for the sun. They can handle the brutal Texas heat just fine.
