Hanging Basket Tips with Plants For All Seasons
Dany: Many people choose a plant for a hanging basket, they choose annuals that dive pretty quickly, only a few months.
Dany: We’re gonna give you three examples of hanging basket plants that can last a really long time if they’re in the right setting. Sherri, what do you have for us?
Sherri: This is a wandering Jew, and it is a shade loving basket. If shade is an issue for you on your patio, something like this you could have for a long time.
Dany: The bottom of these are so beautiful.
Sherri: Right, it’s an attributed set, all pretty purple and matching up the leaf.
Dany: It’s gorgeous.
Sherri: When it’s hanging, you can look up and you see the purple as well.
Dany: Here’s one for the sun.
Sherri: Right, and this is a Calibrachoa, looks like a mini petunia, but it’ll last through the summertime. This will cascade down and just bloom for several years. I’ve had mine for about three years.
Dany: Will this just keep blooming?
Sherri: It will, with regular water and regular fertilizer.
Dany: That is awesome. This one’s so sunny and bright, and healthy feeling.
Sherri: Beautiful basket.
Sherri: Calibrachoa. It’s also called million bells.
Dany: Oh, because all the flowers?
Dany: This one I thought was super cool, another shade hanging basket.
Sherri: Right, this is a Mistral orange begonia, so it’s an exotic begonia. This is great for the shady area, maybe a morning sun situation, but with regular water and fertilizer. Now, begonias don’t like to be really wet all the time, so you would want to let it dry out between waterings, but with regular feed you can keep it blooming all summer.
Dany: This one has such incredible leaves and flowers, like what an interesting plant.
Sherri: Right. It’s like the angel wings.
Dany: Yeah, and super gold, but bigger.
Sherri: But bigger.
Dany: Hanging baskets are difficult to care for because you always have to feed them and water them. It’s all up to you.
Sherri: Very special needs, but yes. With correct care, they’ll be long lived.
Dany: Awesome, thanks for sharing these with us.
Sherri: Thank you.
