Houston Organic Garden Tips & Advice
Lacey Lyde:
Hi, guys, it’s Lacey with Landscaper’s Pride. I am here with you to share something that most of you won’t see otherwise, and it’s the behind the scenes and the hands on the products and the daily work that the employees at Landscaper’s Pride do to make sure that there’s consistent products in the bag for you at the garden stores.
So right here we have black velvet mulch. It’s bagged up. They’re changing the line right now. But something you may not know is that black velvet mulch is a composted hardwood, and it came to us through accident through one of our other staff members, David, who had to pivot and had to learn to calibrate changes in sourcing of hardwood. And what happened was through that process and his knowledge, we ended up with something velvety and just a beautiful product that only happens through the expertise of somebody like David, who’s been in this industry for decades.
So here in the bagging line, we have Javi. He’s one of our senior staff. He’s been here 25 years, and he’s had his daughters even working in here. But between Javi and every employee that has touched the products that you’re seeing at the store, we have years and years of experience built upon itself and the human element that helps bring products like this, this is potting soil, to you. Now this got here because Javi’s been working with us for 25 years and passing down his knowledge, and then we have people like Lupe out on the yard, who know how to adjust whenever the weather’s bad. And the same product that you see here transforms based on what the weather looks like. So we need people like Javi and Lupe and David to bring us the consistency that you expect when you get to the store.
