Houston Organic Garden Tips & Advice
Jacey Bowers:
Hey, guys, this is Jacey Bowers. Today we’re at Wabash and I want to just discuss a few things that we can do in the fall and the winter to help our soil.
I’m a big believer in soil guys and about building our soil. One of the ways that we’re able to build soil is to have life in there, and the only way that we can have life is if we have things that are growing. I put down a bunch of dead leaves in this space and then I just threw down a bunch of expired kale. I just wanted to see what would happen. So much of gardening is that. And then what I do is I’ll just pull off these smaller leaves to feed myself and my hungry family. And then I’ll still keep that inside of there because that bacteria and fungi is able to eat on those roots and provide nutrients, and I’m also able to take these and I’m able to get a bunch of greens out of them, even through the cold. That’s why I just really love kale. I think that it does a lot. And also in the stores, it’s $3 a bundle. What is going on?
So this is a way to feed ourselves and also feed our soil and feed the planet. So yes, come on by and definitely plant on.
