Hi, I’m Sherri with HomeShow Garden Pros, and I’m here today with Mike Fodge, Azomite, and we’re going to talk about using Azomite in the lawn and how easy it is to apply with a broadcast spreader.

Mike Fodge:

Sure.

Sherri Harrah:

So can you give them a rundown on how they would go about that?

Mike Fodge:

Well, what I recommend is apply the Azomite by itself. That way you know exactly where it’s gone and you don’t have to worry about whether or not it got in your mix.

Sherri Harrah:

Okay.

Mike Fodge:

So apply your fertilizer and then apply the Azomite. Once you’ve applied the Azomite, water it in. There’s no nitrogen in this, so it won’t burn it, but those prills, that I’ll show you in a minute, they break down right where you’ve put it, and then it begins to be absorbed by the soil.

Sherri Harrah:

Okay. And I know you get asked this all the time, spreader settings?

Mike Fodge:

Yes.

Sherri Harrah:

How do we know how to set our spreaders? There’s so many different spreaders with all these different numbers. Just quick tip on how to set that spreader.

Mike Fodge:

So you take a look at your spreader, and in this case, this one is 15, but there are out there that are 10, and there’s some that are 20. I always recommend going midpoint.

Sherri Harrah:

Okay. We go seven and a half.

Mike Fodge:

And then apply on a first time application at midpoint. And then as subsequently as you’ve used it through the seasons, go down to either a six or a five, depending on how your lawn looks.

Sherri Harrah:

Okay. So the bigger the number, the bigger the opening, the more product comes out?

Mike Fodge:

Yes.

Sherri Harrah:

So if it’s your first time, go big.

Mike Fodge:

Go big.

Sherri Harrah:

And then for maintenance, you would back it down a little bit. So it’s really just as easy as pouring it in, turning the dial, put it out. There’s no worries about burning or hurting, it’s only benefits.

Mike Fodge:

Only benefits.

Sherri Harrah:

Great. So for more great tips like this, join us at HomeShow Garden Pros.
