Dany Says: Practice Intelligent Irrigation

Two common mistakes people make with irrigation and their irrigation systems is, one is they run it too long. They put too much water out. Almost universally any time of the year, you can cut back your irrigation. A good thing to do is to know what kind of plants you’ve got and just try to do less.

The other one is people irrigate a lot of times during the day. Well, you’re losing a lot of that water to evaporation. The better thing to do is very late in the morning is when you want to irrigate, 4:00 a.m., 4:15 a.m., 4:20 a.m., and not during the heat of the day. Also, if you can run your irrigation and do an irrigation check to find out before you have breaks to see how everything’s going, if your pressure’s good, maybe putting that in your calendar for once a month, it’s a really good thing to do.
