When it comes to maintaining your space, kind of using natural methods and a soil first mentality, horticultural molasses can be a huge tool. Insects hate it. Aphids, mealybugs, thrips, all these insects that are such big pests really don’t like the smell of it, and if it gets on their bodies, they will just take off. Caterpillars hate it. They can’t digest it, so if it’s on a leaf surface when they have kind of free rein, they’re going to go away too or die. So that’s horticultural molasses.
A cool thing about it is if it drips on the soil, it’s really good for the soil. It helps build up good bacterial populations. So you want to get it on your leaves whenever you have a pest problem and it’ll really help eliminate that problem.
